Wi fi validating identity

I was on the internet using a wireless hookup, then im not on the internet and its telling me its trying to "Validate Identity" I don't know what this means or what it needs to Validate and or who's or whats Identity?I just replaced an existing computer and when hooking up the new computer, I have connection to the internet but the status for my connection to the network here at home says "validating identity". Later on I got a an error message that says, I quote: "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." Can anyone help me figure this out? I moved the selection tab to WPA2 only and keep the rest the same and no luck. Ok so I setup the router to only transmit wireless N and to use WPA2 only.

It says something about windows not finding a certificate.

The weird part is that I was using WPA TKIP with the passphrase and it was working fine.

To fix, you go into the properties page of your wireless connection, go to "Wireless Networks" tab and then to Properties of the chosen wireless network you are trying to connect to.

Then go to "authentification" tab and untick the box saying "Enable IEEE802.1x to the availiable network" and that should solve your problem Graham UKRight, Graham's solution worked for me.

Ok so I setup the router to only transmit wireless N and to use WPA2 only.

When I try to connect using the windows zero configuration utility it gets stuck validating identity.

In the next window click on the "Authentication" tab, Make sure "Enable IEEE 802.1x...." checkbox is UN-Checked, the rest of this window should be greyed out.

If your network is Encrypted go on to step 6 otherwise Click ok and try to connect to your network again.

cheere Hadn't read all solutions so I apologize if I'm repeating someone but all I did was go back to Belkin router setup utility, or (192.168.2.1) and clicked "wi fi protected setup".

Then, I selected disable at the "wi fi protected setup (wps)" option.

Select your encryption type from the "Network Authentication" and "Data Encryption" drop downs.
